Configuring the Windows Base OS MP for MOM 2005 SP1 is relatively straightforward. The benefit it provides include a number of the relevent 'health indicators' for the Operating System. It should be used in conjunction with the many other available Management Packs to provide an aggregate view of the health of Servers in your environment.
