Exchange 2007 Client Access Server Autodiscover Capability

Deployments of Exchange 2007 using Outlook 2007 benefit End Users a great deal (just stating the facts here!).  One of the 'cool' (or 'kewl') new features available from the Client Access Server Role (formerly Outlook Web Access Server) is Autodiscover.  Autodiscover is best described by Joey Masterson, Technical Writer for the Exchange 2007 Team of the referenced article:

"The Autodiscover service uses a user's e-mail address or domain account to automatically configure the user's profile."

After you finish applauding (for all of us Exchange Administrators who have scripted creation of Outlook Profiles) take a look at this reference article defining how Autodiscover works, it's design considerations and the significance of having a good communication channel with the folks configuring your Corporations Firewall Rules.
